Commissioned by The Sydney Consort: Hans-Dieter Michatz - recorder Stan W. Kornel - violin Monika Kornel - harpsichord Recorded April 2007 St Augustines Catholic Church Balmain Sydney. http://www.sydneyconsort.com.au/
"I was delighted when the Sydney Consort asked me for a new work following their 2005 European tour, during which they performed my Spider Song for soprano, violin and harpsichord. The composition of Opal Wings was influenced, as is most of my work, by the sounds and sights of nature, especially those I experience in my garden on Sydney's northern beaches. As in many of my works, I have overlaid basic textures with melodic fragments, here reminiscent of the songs of the Eastern Rosellas and the Rainbow Lorikeet. When in flight, the wings of these beautiful and highly-coloured birds flash like opals." Alan Holley http://www.kookaburramusic.com/ http://www.hammeringsrecords.com/alan...
