Here are a few pages from the 1971 Benge catalog. In June, 1971, I picked up my Benge, and this catalog, from the Benge factory in Los Angeles. They had recently relocated from Burbank, which explained why my LA Benge had a Burbank bell. Claude Gordon had selected the trumpet for me in advance. The three most influential trumpet teachers of my life were in the catalog - Tom Holden, Harold Mitchell, and Claude Gordon. I didn't pursue a career with trumpet, but the lessons they taught me about discipline, excellence, patience, and hard work actually equipped me for a successful life outside of music. I will always be grateful for the opportunity to have known and studied with them - especially Tom Holden, who was like a big brother to me. - Jim Dye
