25th June 2014 Kolarac Hall, Belgrade, Serbia. HAMMERINGS II for solo oboe This three movement work, commissioned by Mark Bruwel, was written in 1993. The title comes from the English translation of an instruction that can appear in music scores, martellato, to hammer. Originally it was used to tell string and piano players to attack the note or group of notes with a very strong and detached accent. In woodwind and brass compositions this effect requires the performer to use a powerful tongue stroke and a large amount of air to support the accent. http://www.kookaburramusic.com/ http://www.hammeringsrecords.com/alan...
