recorded at a concert in Sydney, 11th November, 2001.

From the program notes:
Dream Song is the first of a series of compositions where I use a repeated quaver ostinato that functions as a foundation on which to place melodic fragments and varying densities of rhythmic and harmonic textures - both above and below. I so enjoyed writing Dream Song that I subsequently made the repeated quaver pattern the underlying structure in my orchestral score A line of Stars (2007), Opal Wings (2007) for baroque flute, violin and harpsichord and my piano trio the estuaries of time (2012).
In each of these works I have tried to have the ostinato as a prominent idea, then completely hidden in the texture, then reappearing and disappearing. Sometimes I keep the pattern occurring almost too long thereby effecting and altering the harmony. And of course, a repeating pattern controls the pulse of a work and that it most important in these works where the beat is similar to that of a human heartbeat.

Dream Song was first performed by Stan Kornel, violin and Ludmilla Beliavskaia, piano, Sydney, 11th November, 2001.
